Eye care professionals only -ocular allergy treatments after PRK?

Here in the last couple of days, I’m having some increased burning sensation in my eyes. I’m done with the medicated drops, and am using my artificial tears every 3-4 hours. The tears didn’t burn when I put them in before the past couple of days. I’m using Refresh Plus single use vials. I stopped taking my Claritin thinking that perhaps it was the antihistamine drying my eyes out. I am having allergies, but at 4 weeks postop, I’m not sure if I can put anything else in my eyes that a doctor would prescribe for ocular allergies. I’m sure this is a result of my allergies, as when I have nasal symptoms, my eyes are involved also.

I suppose I should say that I would ask my PRK surgeon, but he’s on vacation this week…and I do not talk to my docs about my health/ocular problems because I do not feel that work and personal should mix

At 4 weeks post-op, you can use an allergy drop. Try Zaditor otc. It was Rx till this year. It runs $14.99 and it will help. Use cool comp.’s 15min.’s 2x daily as well, to help with swelling. When your Dr, is gone, there should be a back-up Dr. on call, so call his office if you want. When he gets back, if the Zaditor is not quite getting it, I would suggest Elestat. I t works great on our lasik and prk patients. You can also add a preservative free gel at bedtime, B&L has one otc that works great. Good luck..

try patanol , and continue claritin with preservative free tears
