How do I care for my kitten’s eye infection?
Seinior Class of 2009 Mom!!! asked:
I got a kitten form my neighbors and they are old and cant take care of her. She has goopy stuff in her eye and she can barley open her eye most of the time. I wash her eye out like 3 times a day but its not helping and being a young mother i cant afford the vet so what do I do?

Ahhhh…that sounds bad.
Other than the vet, the only thing I can think of is dab it gentily with warm water.
It’d be a good idea to just call your vet. It won’t cost anything, and he/she will give you more help than many of these answers.
Good luck, hope this helped!

If they are old and that’s the reason they can’t take care shouldn’t a better reason for you not to take care of her be because you can’t afford to take a sick animal to the vet?
Water isn’t going to cure an eye infection. Are you kidding? You say you’re a young mother… Would you try to cure your child with water if she had eyes crusted together so badly that she couldn’t even open them? I surely hope not. She needs antibiotics which would be prescribed by a veterinarian. If you can’t take care of her either, let a no-kill shelter find her a good home where someone can actually give her the care she needs.
